This review follows the examination of a house and a granny flat with three participants, Bryan, Xavier and Benny.

In this instance, we were able to identify and resolve a scenario where the main house and granny flat were being overserviced in relation to the funding available for the three participants.

Please note that names, addresses, and exact amounts have been changed for privacy purposes.

INITIAL ANALYSIS
In this scenario, two of the participants lived in the main house and the third participant lived in a granny flat on the same premises.

The participants had combined funding of $17,395 per week. Once we completed our review, we identified that the claimable roster cost of the service being provided was averaging $18,476 (actual staff cost was $13,155), a difference of $1,081 per week.

The claimable roster cost is the hours of support multiplied by the applicable hourly rate as opposed to the staff cost which is the actual cost paid to staff as wages.

REDUCTION IN ROSTER
Working with the Client Services team we were able to make a slight reduction in day time support as well as a reduction to the overnight support. The previous roster in place had both an active overnight shift as well as an additional sleepover shift for the granny flat.

After conducting a risk assessment and making a minor environmental change so all the participants were able to contact the support staff at all times, we trialed the new roster.

After a successful trial period and sign off from all the necessary stakeholders we formally put the new roster into place as well as preparing the claiming documentation to align with the support being delivered.

As can be seen in the table below, as a result of the new roster being implemented we were able to reduce the actual staff cost by $751 per week.
